Rabat – In response to the current situation in the Middle East, specifically regarding the conflict involving Houthi militias in Yemen and Saudi Arabia. King Mohammed VI of Morocco issued an official statement on Saturday, September 26, 2026. Below is the official statement received by the media from the government office of the Kingdom.

“His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist Him, addressed two messages to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques of Islam, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Sovereign of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and to HRH Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdelaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Prime Minister, following the repeated attacks perpetrated by terrorist Houthi militias.
In these messages, HM the King affirms that “Faithful to the bonds of religion and history and to our shared destiny, as well as to the solid bonds of brotherhood that unite us personally, along with our two Families and our two brotherly peoples, I address You in this delicate circumstance that your dear country is going through, whose historical responsibility, religious values, and strategic considerations require that We all stand united to defend the right, sovereignty, security, and sacred sites of the nation.”
The Sovereign expressed His deep concern and preoccupation regarding the repeated ignoble attacks perpetrated by the terrorist Houthi militias against the brotherly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which targeted civilian and economic facilities, vital infrastructure, as well as cities and residential areas, reaffirming that what amplifies the feelings of condemnation is the fact that these attacks went beyond targeting facilities and civilians to engage in desperate, despicable, and heinous attempts aimed at the Holiest places on Earth and the most sacred in the heart of every Muslim: Mecca and Medina.
These ignoble attacks and desperate attempts aimed at undermining the security, stability, and well-being of the valiant Saudi people do not merely constitute an aggression against the brotherly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, its generous people, and its residents, but also constitute a flagrant aggression against the sentiments of over one billion eight hundred million Muslims across the four corners of the world, affirmed the Sovereign, adding that it is also a flagrant violation of the values and principles of the Holy Islamic religion, which advocates peace, tolerance, and the sacred nature of blood, honor, and holy sites.
His Majesty the King expresses, on His own behalf and on behalf of the entire Moroccan people, to the Sovereign and the Crown Prince of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, “Our condemnation of these criminal acts, for which the terrorist Houthi militias and those who support, fund, and arm them bear full responsibility, as We hold them all accountable before God, history, and international law, and subject to the resulting international sanctions.”
The Sovereign emphasizes that “the security and stability of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, like the security of the rest of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, is inseparable from the security of the Kingdom of Morocco, and any aggression against Saudi Arabia is an aggression against Morocco, because We consider support for Our brothers in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the brotherly Arab Gulf countries as support for right and legitimacy, and the defense of their supreme interests as a defense of Our common strategic interests.”
His Majesty the King also affirms that Morocco always stands alongside the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in the face of the dangers it confronts following the actions of terrorist and separatist militias and the regional powers that support them, which target the security of its neighbors and its regional environment with a short-sighted and destructive vision aimed at undermining the security of the entire region, harming the stability enjoyed by its countries, and threatening vital maritime routes, which are of paramount importance both for the global economy and for the security of international maritime navigation.
The Sovereign continues: “In sharing this strategic assessment with you, We reaffirm that the continuation of these aggressions constitutes a flagrant violation of international law and relevant UN resolutions, notably Resolution 2216 (2015), which demands the withdrawal of militias, the handover of weapons, and the cessation of violence, and Resolution 2722 (2024), which demands that they immediately cease attacks against maritime navigation. Likewise, the targeting of civilian areas, economic infrastructure, and holy sites constitutes a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law and international conventions and customs, and cannot go unpunished.” (PERSISMA/Ed)
